Plot summary

On a Central Park bench in October, Saul, a fifty-eight-year-old very unhappily married, despairing native New York Jew whose wife keeps having affairs, meets Mike, a very happily married fifty-eight-year-old conservative Christian from Topeka. While employing comical sarcasm on Mike, Saul cannot stop Mike from not only bragging about his wife, life, and Bible study, but Mike keeps telling Saul how to fix his life and marriage in a way suitable for a Christian from his Bible study in Topeka. Tempers flare in a comical way. Saul thinks he finally sticks it to Mike by attacking the loyalty of Mike’s wife but Mike sticks it to a desperate and frightened Saul as only a very angry conservative Christian from Topeka could. At the very end of this short farce, they do find common ground after a very harrowing experience for Saul thanks to Mike.
